Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) is an identification system used for both Civilian and Military identification and control of air traffic.

It enables radar systems to interrogate and distinguish aircraft identity and hostility states from their automated response.

The latest version of IFF systems uses an encrypted data link between interrogators and transponders to confirm that an aircraft is friendly. It uses a newer, more secure waveform than previous versions making it more robust and resilient in a harsh EW environment.

3SDL is currently supporting several customers in their procurement and selection of IFF systems that are compatible with improvements in civil Air Traffic procedures and the increased security needed for Military Operations.
