Background:
Although I’m actually an electronics and control systems engineer by trade, many people may be more familiar with my arm-waving presentational techniques! Having completed a UK MOD engineering apprenticeship from 1986 – 1990, I then studied for a degree in Control Engineering at the University of Sheffield. Following a period as an MOD engineering officer with 30th Signals Regiment UK Army from 1993-1995, I then returned to the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency at Malvern where I joined a small team that specialised in Tactical Data Links (TDL). Latterly, I went on to become the group’s manager before leaving in 2000 to join STASYS, where I managed its extensive TDL acquisition support portfolio to UK MOD. In April 2005, I formed 3SDL with 2 colleagues, our aim being to provide independent acquisition support to government clients.
Specialist Skills:
Over a 15-year period, I have been fortunate enough to develop a unique TDL acquisition insight through provision of continuous technical support to UK MOD Defence Equipment & Support and its predecessors. I understand the difficult range of issues that defence equipment procurers usually face and I relish working with them to help in the delivery of pragmatic, cost-effective solutions to the front-line.
Personal:
I’m married to a successful outside caterer and when we’re not both at work, we enjoy holidays, eating out and maintaining our home. I also enjoy building, driving and repairing historic rally cars (usually after I’ve crashed them)! I’m also a parish councillor in my village as I enjoy supporting the rural community in which I live.
Favourite Saying:
'You appear to be playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!'
