Matt May
| Position: | Managing Director |
| Joined 3SDL: | April 2005 |
Background:
I am a marine biologist who lost his way! Following a stint as a salesman working in financial services and then pharmaceuticals, I joined the RAF where I served as a Fighter Controller. Latterly in my RAF career, I became one of the UK MOD’s foremost TDL management experts. I was recruited by AeI in 2000 (now BAES) and then moved to STASYS (now Lockheed Martin) in 2002. In April 2005 I formed 3SDL, with 2 colleagues, to provide independent acquisition support to government clients.
Specialist Skills:
My specialist consultancy area is the management of complex multi-TDL environments. Often, within any country, disparate systems are procured by different teams and expected to operate seamlessly with each other. This doesn’t work! Imagine how much greater the challenge is in the multi-national arena. I relish the challenge of working with clients to determine how the best can be extracted from existing solutions and what could be added to improve the situation.
Personal:
I’m married with 2 children and that along with running 3SDL takes up most of my time. I’m also a learning junkie; having completed my MBA, I’m now working towards my Chartered Director status with the IoD. In my scarce downtime I love trying to catch carp; the bigger the better.
Favourite Saying:
'Availability is not a skill.'
