ISR for Unmanned Systems Operators
This course is designed for individuals that have been focused on flying and operating with unmanned platforms but have had less emphasis on the data output from the sensor. This course will allow students to enhance their understanding of mission planning, platform/payload integration, sensor effects and imagery exploitation to gain deeper insight into customer collection requirements and provide focus on the information that is being gathered by the system.
By the end of this course, students will be proficient in understanding intelligence-led operations and how this approach can be integrated into their day-to-day operations.
Students wishing to attend this course do not need previous ISR experience but should have operated with tactical level Unmanned Air Systems.
The following objectives will be covered during the course:
- An introduction to ISR – How intelligence works and how ISR is implemented
- Electro-Optical (EO), Infra-Red (IR) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) studies
- The Platform and the Payload – Integration considerations and requirements
- Situational Awareness (SA) and Environment – How to plan missions effectively
- Completion of an ISR operations exercise
This course is important for individuals that are about to tackle sensor specific courses and provides them with a solid understanding of IMINT principles and the reasoning behind imagery exploitation.
Highly experienced within the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) domain, Joint Test and Evaluation, Operational Aviation and procurement.
Having Been in embedded within the Royal Air Force as an instructor at the Air Warfare School, he continually contributed and participated in future force development exercises whilst maintaining an in depth level of Tri-service knowledge of both UK and NATO Doctrine. Frazer joined 3SDL as a Senior Consultant in October 2017.
