A team of space experts from 3SDL had the pleasure of working with over 20 attendees, including the Director, from the Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) at Shrivenham last Monday (24 September 2018). Our team was asked to help DCDC better understand the Space environment, the civil/commercial/Defence cooperation challenge and the inevitable evolution towards a more contested domain. It was refreshing to be involved in such a frank, critical discussion and analysis, considering the development of optimal UK Space concepts and doctrine. We found the mature, sophisticated discussion enlightening, particularly concerning the need for a fully Joint approach to ensure the 3 traditional environments of Land, Maritime and Air are engaged appropriately across the Space domain.
3SDL look forward to working with DCDC again in the near future; in the meantime, we were delighted to receive the following feedback from their Head of Doctrine Air, Space & Cyber, Air Commodore Phil Lester:
‘I thought yesterday was a resounding success – and that was the view of those who participated too. You were set a mammoth challenge and one that you met head on and succeeded in pulling off. Your Space instructors, Dinz and Chris, tackled each of the complex subjects with precision and clarity and I think the team are considerably wiser from this approach…thanks again, it was truly awesome and I would be grateful if you would pass on my sincere appreciation to Dinz and Chris for a job, very, very well done.’
