3SDL is pleased to announce that our own Kevin Farquhar and Matt Johnston have recently been appointed Secretary and Treasurer of the International Data Links Society (IDLS) UK Chapter. The UK Chapter is viewed by members as a mechanism through which the UK can communicate with the international Tactical Datalink (TDL) community, as well as acting as a forum for discussion of UK-only issues.
Kevin’s new role as Secretary involves custodianship of the governing Constitution ensuring that meetings, annual general meetings and extraordinary general meetings are run effectively and in accordance with the provisions of the Chapter Constitution and Chairs wishes.
Kevin added: “I am extremely pleased to have been accepted as the Secretary in the newly re-invigorated UK Chapter. I wanted to join the Committee to hopefully make a difference in the UK TDL area and assist the UK Chapter in striving forward to become the well-respected Chapter that I know it can be.”
Matt was at the inaugural IDLS society event and has been a member of the society for most of the years since then. His new role involves keeping track of the financial accounts of the UK Chapter while ensuring that costs are balanced against affordability, so that members can easily get together to share ideas and meet old and new friends.
Matt added: “I believe the benefits of the society and contributions of the members help improve knowledge and challenge industry to continuously innovate to meet military needs, and this can only be good for all parties. I have enjoyed sharing information and meeting likeminded individuals and felt it was time to help the UK Chapter and society continue to flourish.”
3SDL looks forward to supporting to the IDLS UK Chapter and the wider TDL community, leading up to the International Data Links Symposium 2019 and beyond.
